Air India Express Deploys DAViX, an AI Copilot to Scale Airport Operations and Improve Passenger Experience

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India under the Tata Group, is one of India’s largest low-cost carriers with operations across India and the Middle East. As the airline expanded its fleet and network, operational scale and complexity increased across airport, flight, and ground operations.
To support this growth while maintaining operational reliability and on-time performance, Air India Express partnered with Forthcode to deploy DAViX (Digital Aviation Intelligence eXchange) an AI Copilot designed to support frontline airport and operations teams with real-time intelligence and decision assistance.
Launched on October 16, 2025, DAViX provides a unified intelligence layer across airport operations, flight coordination, compliance, and service recovery, enabling teams to act faster and more consistently in a high-tempo operating environment.
As Air India Express scaled operations, several operational challenges became increasingly pronounced.
Airport and flight operations teams relied on data spread across multiple systems, including passenger service systems, crew platforms, and internal operational dashboards. Accessing accurate, real-time information often required switching between tools or manual coordination, slowing decision-making particularly during disruptions.

With network growth and increasing passenger volumes, these inefficiencies risked cascading delays, inconsistent responses to disruptions, and reduced operational resilience.
Forthcode was selected for its ability to combine aviation domain expertise with applied AI designed for real-world airline operations.

Air India Express also valued Forthcode’s understanding of airport and flight operations, particularly the need for reliable, explainable AI in safety- and compliance-sensitive contexts.
Forthcode designed and deployed DAViX (Digital Aviation Intelligence eXchange) an AI Copilot purpose-built for airline operations.
DAViX acts as an intelligent assistant embedded into daily operational workflows, enabling airport, operations, and support teams to access real-time information, receive proactive alerts, and make faster, more informed decisions.
The solution was designed around four core principles:

DAViX integrates data from Passenger Service Systems (PSS), crew and operational systems, and internal data platforms to deliver a unified operational view across departments.
The deployment of DAViX followed a structured, operations-first rollout approach.
Forthcode worked closely with Air India Express operations and IT teams to ensure system integrations were validated against live operational scenarios. The AI Copilot was introduced incrementally, allowing teams to build familiarity while maintaining operational continuity.
Training focused on practical, role-based usage ensuring frontline staff could quickly adopt the system during real-world operational situations. The emphasis was on reducing friction, minimizing learning curves, and embedding DAViX into existing workflows rather than introducing parallel processes.
This approach enabled a smooth transition from traditional data access methods to AI-assisted operational decision support.
- Faster access to real-time flight, airport, and operational data
- Improved coordination during disruptions and irregular operations
- Reduced decision latency for frontline and control center teams
- Automation of repetitive operational queries
- Lower cognitive load for frontline staff
- Multilingual, voice- and text-based interaction enabling wider accessibility
- Continuous monitoring of regulatory and operational requirements
- Proactive alerts supporting safety and audit readiness
- Greater consistency in operational decision-making
- Smoother airport and gate operations
- Faster responses during disruptions
- Improved on-time performance through better coordination
Together, these outcomes strengthened Air India Express’s ability to operate reliably at scale while maintaining a passenger-centric focus.
- AI copilots can play a critical role in augmenting frontline airline operations when designed with human decision-making at the center
- Unifying operational data across systems significantly improves response times and consistency
- Real-time intelligence and proactive alerts enhance both operational resilience and compliance
- Scalable AI platforms enable airlines to grow without proportionally increasing operational complexity
For Air India Express, DAViX represents a foundational step toward a more intelligent, responsive, and resilient operational model demonstrating how applied AI can be deployed safely and effectively in mission-critical aviation environments.
